Jeanette Jordan

Assistant Dean, Glenbrook North High School, Northbrook, IL

Write Place Coordinator

Jeanette Jordan is the Writing Coordinator and an Assistant Dean at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, IL.

As the Secondary Representative on the Board of Directors of the International Writing Centers Association, she promotes the work of K-12 writing centers and helps teachers start writing centers in their schools.

Jordan has published several articles on the subject and has presented at the National Council of Teachers of English and the International Writing Centers Association conferences.

Additionally, she was chosen to be a leader of the 2006 Summer Institute for Writing Center Directors, which was held at Stanford University.

Writing centers offer the opportunity for teachers and students to have one-to-one conferences about writing -- both academic and personal in nature. Jordan encourages students to submit their writings to contests and for publication. She believes that teens have important insights to share and that writing for a larger purpose helps students develop their writing skills.

Jordan lives in Northbrook, IL with her husband (also a high school teacher) and their two daughters.
