Success Story

(Photo: Urban Prep Academy)
Urban Prep charter school in Chicago must be doing something very right! For the second year in a row every single senior has been accepted to a four-year college or university, including some of the country's most selective schools. Urban Prep is the only all-male, all-African-American high school in the city, and the students come from some of the roughest neighborhoods in Chicago. When they arrived at Urban Prep four years ago only 11 percent of these students were reading at grade level. This month is was announced that all 104 members of the 2011 graduating class have been accepted to 103 colleges. To read the complete Chicago Tribune article, click here .
