My favorite is by Eleanor Roosevelt. I loved it when she said,
“A woman is like tea: You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.” |
I think it was a line in a song. My mother used to always say it when she did chores.
“Inch by inch;
Row by row,
I’m going to make
This garden grow.”
I like it because it makes me remember how determined she was about always making life better. She knew nothing happened all at once. It takes effort. And important things happen a little at a time. And things don’t always show while they’re growing. My mother was a wise woman. We didn’t have a yard or a garden, but we have a pretty terrific family. And now I think I know what she meant. |
