Women & Girls in the Media: What Do You Think?

A recent report of the American Psychological Association called “The Sexualization of Girls” found evidence that the images of girls and young women in advertising, merchandising, and popular media is detrimental to girls’ self-image and healthy development. They found “a correlation between sexualized images of girls and eating disorders, low self-esteem and depression.” Do you agree that what girls see on television, in video games, n clothing ads and on the internet can be harmful to their health?
